Panel Box replacement is expensive. Costs can range from $1500-$2500 or more based on options and needs. If any service provider suggests Panel Box replacement, always seek a second opinion. The cost of this repair justifies it. Why? Many times the only repair needed is to have the components tighten up. While a trained professional can make that judgment, the average home or business owner can’t make that assessment. Be a wise and a proactive consumer. The money saved could be yours. Call Boyd Craig HVAC at 972-424-6701 for a Free Second Opinion.
Second Opinion Count$
September 7th, 2010Uneven Temperatures or Hot Spots in your Home
September 2nd, 2010A room in a home or business that feels warmer than the thermostat setting; this is one of the biggest complaints we get this time of year. Certainly the thermostat could be faulty or there could also be uneven air flow and return problems. However it could be as simple as the thermostat being located in a cooler room location. The “hotter” room could be on a west exposure and by nature is warmer. Common sense would tell you that room needs more cold air. A solution is to install a second remote sensor in the warmer room. The system is then set up to average the temperature between the two thermostats. The average temperature is then utilized by the AC system to provide a better response for over all temperature control. Call Boyd Craig HVAC at 972-424-6701 for an appointment.
A Dripping Condenser Line is NOT Normal . . .
August 23rd, 2010This time of year many people experience dripping condenser lines inside or outside of their homes. Many people assume this is normal, indeed it IS NOT. The condenser has two condensation release lines. One is inside the unit, so you don’t see it. The second one is usually visible somewhere inside or outside of
the home. That second line is an over flow line. It only drips if the primary line is clogged. So what is the big deal? Well, if the primary line is clogged, it will eventually rust out (even if the overflow line is dripping). When it does, it will leak in your ceiling, floors, roof or walls, depending on the AC unit’s location. This has the potential to create major damage to your home. So if you see your secondary condenser line dripping, call Boyd Craig HVAC at 972-424-6701 for an appointment to have your AC system checked. The money spent for a repair is far less than the water damage possible due to neglect of your AC unit.
Check Your Breaker Box . . . Please
August 18th, 2010When it is 100+ degrees outside and the AC stops functioning, most people panic!! They start calling HVAC contractors to locate one that will come out immediately. Common sense is lost in the moment. Almost weekly we find homeowners that have forgotten the simplest and least expensive solution to their AC problem. Their AC Breaker has flipped off. They failed to check it before making a Service Appointment. Most times we ask homeowners to check for themselves. In busy times of the late summer, that question is sometimes forgotten. So please be proactive, ALWAYS CHECK THE BREAKER BEFORE CALLING ANY AC SERVICE PROVIDER. It is easy on the wallet and helps save embarrassment.
CO Alarms
August 17th, 2010The public accepts that Smoke Alarms are needed in every home. However most homeowners do not give CO Alarms the same propriety. Because CO is impossible to see or smell, it is harder for the public to identify with this silent killer. Sadly, high CO levels can kill a person in just minutes. What exactly is CO? This gas is produced whenever any fuel such as gas, oil, kerosene, wood, or charcoal is burned. The poisoning occurs by malfunctioning or improperly used fuel burning appliances. Hundreds of people die annually from CO poisoning. Call Boyd Craig HVAC @ 972-424-6701 for further installation information; or ask your technician for information the next time they are in your home or business.
Better Indoor Air Quality
August 13th, 2010Today most consumers aspire to have a healthier environment for their home and family. Many would assume the proper solution would be an electric-powered room air cleaner. And while that is an option most would turn to, it is only due to the lack of education about this subject. Actually the solution could be as easy as upgrading the air filter system to your home’s HVAC system. The suggested solution is a HVAC filter that removes smaller contaminants such as smoke and pollen. These two irritants are responsible for leading to most allergies and asthma problems. All filters carry a rating system based on the amount and size of contaminants removed. Since this rating system is not easily understood by the average household consumer, this is a reason to call a professional HVAC provider. Boyd Craig HVAC will consider the particular needs of your family and provide solutions for your consideration. Please call 972-424-6701 for an appointment, which could ultimately lead to better Indoor Air Quality for your home and family.
Capitalize your Condensor
June 7th, 20101. Check your condenser (the outside unit with the fan in it). Remove any shrubs, plants or other debris from the sides & top of the unit and in the immediate area. These items may block the air movement around the unit. This blockage could cause additional hot air to re-circulate back into the unit, thus raising the inside temperature. (P.S. Be on the look out for ants as they sometimes like to nest in these units.)
3. Check the filter norally found inside the furnace/blower unit inside your home. Check to see if you need a new filterfor this new season. Repeat this process each month during the summer season.
These are three simple items that will initiatet the check up process.
If you are stilll unsure or clear about the above processes, please call us at 972-424-6701 and we will be happy to assist you over the phone.
